Cookie Policy
1. Introduction
This policy explains how Jumi Ltd (company number 17185825, registered at 3 Trafalgar Court, Farnham, England, GU9 7QE) uses cookies and similar technologies on jumipatternmaker.com.
It should be read together with our Privacy Notice and our Cookie Preferences & Consent Notice, which explains how we ask for and record your consent.
This policy is written to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, the UK GDPR and current ICO guidance.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They let the site, or third parties, recognise your device and remember information between visits.
Local storage is a related technology. It is space in your browser where a website can save larger amounts of data on your device. Unlike most cookies, local storage data is not sent to servers automatically; it stays in your browser.
Pixels and similar identifiers are small pieces of code that work alongside cookies, mainly in advertising, to measure whether ads have been seen or clicked.
In this policy, "cookies" covers all of these unless we say otherwise.
3. How we use these technologies
We group everything into four categories.
| Category | What it does | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Makes the site work: security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choices | No, these are exempt under PECR |
| Functional (local storage) | Saves your patterns and workspace on your device so your work is there when you come back | No consent banner needed, but we tell you about it here |
| Analytics | Helps us understand how the site is used so we can improve it | Yes, unless it falls within the low-risk audience measurement provisions of UK law, in which case we still give you an opt-out |
| Advertising and affiliate | Funds the free tool: serves and measures ads, attributes affiliate referrals | Yes, always |
We never use cookies to read your designs or the files you import. The tool's creative functions run in your browser and do not depend on any cookie in the advertising or analytics categories.
4. Local storage: where your work is saved
Jumi Pattern Maker saves your patterns automatically to your browser's local storage. This is how the tool gives you auto-save without requiring an account.
Three things follow from this:
- Your saved work exists only on your device and in that browser. It does not sync between devices or browsers.
- Clearing your browser data will delete your saved patterns. Most "clear cookies" options in browsers also clear local storage. Export any pattern you want to keep before clearing browser data.
- We cannot see or recover this data. It never reaches us.
Because local storage here is used solely to provide a feature you have asked for (saving your work), it does not require consent under PECR, but we consider it good practice to be transparent about it.
5. Advertising cookies
The free tool is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. If you consent to advertising cookies:
Google and its certified ad partners set cookies (for example, cookies from the google.com and doubleclick.net domains) to serve ads, personalise them to your interests, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and prevent fraud.
The full list of Google's advertising cookies and their lifespans is maintained by Google at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies, and the ad technology providers active on this site are listed in our consent tool.
If you do not consent, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised (based on the page you are viewing rather than on you). Non-personalised ads use limited technical data for frequency capping and fraud prevention.
6. Analytics cookies
We use analytics cookies to see, in aggregate, how visitors use the site: which features are popular, where visitors come from and where the experience can be improved. Analytics runs according to the choice you make in our consent tool. We do not use analytics data to identify individuals, and where our analytics configuration qualifies for the audience measurement provisions introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, we still provide a clear way to object.
7. Affiliate cookies
Some outbound links on the site are affiliate links. If you consent to this category and click an affiliate link, the affiliate network sets a cookie so the partner knows the referral came from us and can pay us a commission if you buy something. This does not change the price you pay. See our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure for how we identify these links.
8. Managing your preferences
On our site. When you first visit, our consent banner asks for your choices before any non-essential cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time by selecting Cookie Settings in the site footer, which reopens the preference centre. Your choices are refreshed at least every 12 months.
In your browser. All major browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage. Remember that deleting local storage will delete your saved patterns. Guidance for common browsers:
- Chrome: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Safari: support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/sfri11471
- Firefox: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox
- Edge: support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge
For Google ads. You can manage ad personalisation across Google services at myadcenter.google.com, and learn about opting out of personalised advertising generally at youronlinechoices.eu.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our cookies, providers or the law change. We will update the version number and dates above and, where the changes are significant, ask for your consent again through the banner.
