Getting started
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. JUMI PatternMaker runs entirely in your web browser. There's no account to create, nothing to download, and no software to install — just open the editor and start designing. It works on any modern browser on desktop or laptop.
Is it really free?
Yes, completely. There's no paywall, no trial period and no watermark on anything you make. It stays completely free to use, and whatever you create is yours to use, personally or commercially.
How do I make my first pattern?
Pick an element from the left panel — a shape, icon, line, or one of the ready-made templates — and it drops onto the central tile. Move, resize and recolour it, then add more elements. Designing patterns
What makes a pattern "seamless"?
A seamless pattern tiles edge-to-edge with no visible joins. In PatternMaker, any element that crosses the edge of the tile is automatically re-drawn on the opposite side, so the repeat always lines up. The trick to a lively repeat is to deliberately push some elements across the edges. Our guide on how seamless tiling works explains it in detail.
What elements can I use?
Geometric shapes, straight and styled lines, a large searchable icon library, recolourable animal and food motifs, colourful sticker emoji, botanical shapes, organic blobs, and text in any font. You can also upload your own SVG or PNG artwork and use it as a tileable element, or start from a ready-made template.
Can I change colours?
Yes. Every element has a fill (solid or gradient), a stroke and an opacity you can adjust in the properties panel, plus a quick-colour palette. Most icons and shapes recolour instantly to match your scheme. See choosing colours for a pattern for tips.
Can I upload my own artwork or logo?
Yes. Use the Upload tab to add an SVG or PNG (including transparent PNGs). It becomes a tileable element you can resize and rotate like any other. Uploaded SVGs can even be recoloured with the fill picker.
Exporting
What file formats can I export?
Two: a seamless SVG (a true vector file that scales to any size) and a high-resolution PNG at 1000, 2000, 4000 or 8000 pixels. Both are free at every size. Not sure which to pick? Read SVG vs PNG.
Will my pattern really tile without seams when I export it?
Yes. The exported file is built the same way the live preview is drawn, so what you see is what you get. A PNG is tiled across the canvas seamlessly, and the SVG is a self-contained seamless repeat.
Can I use my patterns for fabric or print-on-demand?
Absolutely — that's one of the most popular uses. Export a high-resolution PNG (or the SVG) and upload it to your print-on-demand or fabric service. Our guide on designing patterns for fabric and print-on-demand covers sizing and resolution.
Can I preview my pattern on a product?
Yes. The Mockups feature shows your pattern on a t-shirt, mug, tote bag, throw pillow, phone case and framed print, and you can download each mockup as an image.
Usage & privacy
Can I use the patterns commercially?
Yes. Anything you create is yours to use for personal or commercial projects — products, packaging, websites, marketing and more. There are no watermarks and no licence fees on your own designs.
Is my work saved? Is it private?
Your pattern auto-saves to your own browser's local storage as you work, so it's there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is uploaded to a server unless you choose to export it. To keep a permanent copy or move between devices, export an SVG/PNG or save a project file.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
PatternMaker is optimised for desktop and laptop browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari). A large screen gives you room for the element library, canvas and live preview side by side.
